Mardi Gras

This poster was commissioned to advertise a Mardi Gras celebration for the young professionals community at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Greenwich Village in February 2026, and was realized over a three day period, as speed was of the essence to put the word out about the event. The design was created to aid in engagement and outreach among the Church's young professionals scene to rally people to attend the event. The project aimed to encapsulate the tradition symbolism and designs of Mardi Gras while maintaining an original look and the understated design style opted for by Saint Joseph’s as evidence by the earlier In Vino project we executed. The campaign we conducted was successful, with over 330 attendees paying and attending the party, launching the series.

This poster for Saint Joseph’s “Bardi Gras” celebration unites French Catholic heritage with New Orleans revelry through rich symbolic layering—fleur-de-lis, Mardi Gras masks, ornate crowns, and the baroque facade of a French colonial cathedral. The design employs the traditional Mardi Gras palette of purple, green, and gold against a quilted black diamond pattern, evoking both European regal tapestries and American festive exuberance. Created for a pre-Lenten gathering of 330 young professionals, the poster needed to honor the sacred origins of Carnival and Mardi Gras while capturing the joy of communal celebration before the penitential season. Our transatlantic approach allowed us to bridge Louisiana’s French colonial roots with contemporary American Catholic social life, creating a visual language that feels both reverential and celebratory.
